Hi all!

I have recently been reading a book called The Visions of the Children: The Apparitions of the Blessed Mother at Medjugorje. This book was actually consecrated “to the Holy Trinity in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, during a Mass offered by the late Father Luther Zimmer, SS. CC., at the Carmelite Convent at Coimbra, Portugal, in the presence of the sisters, one of whom is Sister Lucia, the sole living visionary of Fatima.” I understand that there is a lot of controversy surrounding the Medjugorje apparitions because they are not yet approved by the Church. This is because they are still ongoing. However, many of the messages seem to be in line with messages of Fatima and I know someone who has visited and witnessed the Miracle of the Sun there. St. JP II also believed in a lot of the Medjugorje apparitions. Of course, there was speculation that some have tampered with reports of apparitions, or something like that, or there has been evil deception here or there.

I was wondering if any of you have had experiences through Medjugorje and what your opinion is on the apparitions. I am reading this book with caution since the apparitions are not fully approved by the Church. One thing I found interesting, as a side note, was about the main visionary: Mirjana. The book says that there are ten secrets that were revealed to her about major events. She is supposed to prophecy of them 3 days before their occurrence in order to prove of their legitimacy. There will be visible signs from Heaven and things like that. I realized that since she cannot tell anyone of these secrets especially, she has to be alive for all ten of these events to occur. She is still living. In fact, she is in her 50s. So, if she dies at an old age, these events have to occur within the next 35-45 years. Doesn’t that blow your mind?!?

Anyway, that’s all considering what the visionary claims is true. What are your opinions/experiences?

Actually, these accounts make me very grateful that the Church teaches we are not required to accept personal revelation as true.

they are not yet approved by the Church
More accurate to say they are not approved by the Church. Putting in the word “yet” implies they WILL be approved. The danger with this “yet” is that people act as if they were in the process of approval, perhaps approval is on the way. So act now as if it were sort of approved.

To say “yet”, I was more so implying that the investigations are ongoing, if I am not mistaken.
