Hello all, this is my first post on this forum, its amazing what a google search can help you find.

To begin, I’ve recently started attending a different parish where I live. The one I used to go to was always with my parents. I quite enjoy this new one more, in fact, the way they conduct mass has a certain reverence that I believe is lost in many parishes where I live. I was drawn to it because its quite a bit out of town, isolated, almost as if it were a haven for those wanting to get out of the city.

That being said, I was surprised that this new parish I found has a lot of people my age (25) attending it. I will admit, there are quite a few gorgeous young women there, and I constantly find myself having a mental argument with myself during mass to stay focused. Once I win, its smooth sailing. However, there is one that caught my eye in articular. I’ve seen her a few times, and would like to just like to talk to her a bit. The problem I have always had is being social. I’m just not plain good at it. I also don’t want to come off the wrong way, or put her off in anyway, or just be plain awkward about it.

All (name removed by moderator)ut is welcome.

Ladies: how did some of the good men attending mass approach you for the first time? Anything you particularly look for?

Men: How did you approach that cute girl after mass for the first time? Did it lead to anything fruitful? Be it with her, or maybe with someone else?

Welcome to the forum. 🙂

Don’t worry about coming off as awkward or quiet. I find it endearing and complimentary. It’s those smooth-talkers that Im usually suspicious of. 😂 Don’t be afraid to go up to her and maybe say something positive about the sermon or the liturgy, and that you just wanted to introduce yourself and ask her name. Tell her you really enjoy this church and that you just started coming, and ask her how long she’s been coming here. Then smile and tell her it was a pleasure meeting her and leave. So. If you run into her again, tell her you were wondering if she’d like to go get coffee after asking her a question about her that you learned from your first convo. Good luck! You have a lot going for you. Nice young Catholic men are a precious few, and definitely have their pick of the litter.

My husband and I met through Catholic Match, but we both went to the same parish. We’d actually seen each other. He’s younger than me but he looks old due to his hair. I’m older but I look young thanks to family genetics.

I would never have approached him and had he approached me I probably wouldn’t have given him the time of day. He’s extremely socially awkward and is really bad in person unless he’s comfortable.

I guess the only thing he could have done that would have been fine would be to ask me if I’d heard of X church event and invite me to come. That way it wouldn’t be just the two of us.
