Is it only a Solemnity where the evening prayer 1 is prayed the night before the solemnity, or is that the same for Memorials too?

Only Sundays, Solemnities, and very important Feasts (if they fall on a Sunday ((such as the Triumph of the Cross)) have Evening Prayer I. “Regular” feasts, memorials, and optional memories do not utilize Evening Prayer I, just the evening prayer of the usual weekday before.

St. Thomas Aquinas never has an EP I, the night before his Memorial, though the Nativity of John the Baptist does have an EP I the night before, because of the Solemnity.

The following liturgical days have Evening Prayer I:

  1. *]All Sundays;
    *]All solemnities; and,
    *]Feasts that are feasts of the Lord and occur in the General Roman Calendar and are celebrated on a Sunday during Christmas or in Ordinary Time.

    No other liturgical days have Evening Prayer I; therefore, memorials do not have Evening Prayer I.
