Which is why people like me feel that the law should if anything err on the side of protecting the homosexuals.
Not that I am in any way condoning things like the death threats - I genuinely and sincerely hope that the police find and punish everyone who issued such a threat. But the full weight of the wrath of the alleged gay Mafia amounts to a life-changing lottery win for these people. Hardly proof that the law is overly biased in favour of homosexuals.
This would seem to be a reason why the law should NOT “err” on anyone’s behalf, but should, rather, be equitable and just.
Leaving aside the morality question regarding homosexual behaviour, if it was a travesty of justice for a homosexual person to be denied basic human rights such as to housing, gainful employment, etc. because they acted differently from the norm of a culture, then it would seem equally wrong to deny or attempt to take from a family their livelihood because they think or act differently from what appears to be a new norm in a liberal or permissive society.
What made the first case wrong - denial of basic human rights to homosexuals is precisely what makes the second also wrong - an attempt to deny basic human rights to business owners in order to coerce approval or compliance with regard to a wide open moral issue.
The law is, indeed, “overly biased in favor of homosexuals” and YOU not only KNOW it, but REVEL in that fact. The “life changing lottery win” - as you characterize it - is minuscule relative to what is being lost every day in terms of free speech/conscience rights. When the coercive influence of large corporations such as Apple can bring about - via economic threat - the overthrow of democratically determined laws and prudential oversight [with absolutely no resort to what should be a reasoned or thoughtful process but, rather, by blatant intimidation] in states like Indiana and when rancor overrules reason in what is ostensibly a democratic political process, libertarians have basically undermined their own ideology and have turned themselves into slobbering demagogues.
It’s time to throw away your cheap binoculars, wipe the spittle off the floor underneath your feet, straighten your tie, and begin to use use right reason and a clear lens to get an accurate picture of what is going on politically.
