This one is sure to sound like the grumpy old man that I can be.
Every time I go to the public pool and then to the shower block afterwards, I notice young fathers with their kids. Kids range from babies to 7 or 8. Now where I feel uncomfortable is that there often daughters with them. Girls that can see men undressing and dressing, naked men. The other day I saw close to a 9 year old girl there. Where is the age cut off point?
I realise these are changing times and fathers have more responsibility. I admire them actually. Changing diapers is totally understandable. Someone has to do it. But there has to be an age limit, in my humble opinion.

Honestly, I have never been to a pool shower that did not have privacy curtains.

You know, it’s possible that the ladies of the town have privacy curtains (I mean, as a guy you wouldn’t know, right?) and just assume the men do as well.

Is this something you could bring up with some of the town recreation directors, etc? If the town ‘mothers’ were aware that there were some ‘lacks’, then perhaps changes would be made.

Most men’s shower facilities whether at pool or gyms and such are open. I have to agree with the OP that any little girl over three does not belong in a man’s shower facility. I think the solution is like many larger retail facilities I’ve seen lately. They have a “family” facility with locked doors. Either dads or moms with kids can use them in privacy.

Ever try changing in a toilet stall?

I have

When I was a single mum I had to take children in with me in the ladies public toilets ,change rooms for safety reasons .It was all decent.
If I were a single dad in those cases you mention,I would have my children avoid that situation, have togs on beneath clothing,or just use towels and go home to change…or simply avoid the situation altogether.
Yeah, poor planning on behalf of the facilities OP.

I have never been to a swimming baths where males and females of whatever age have not been in separate showers and changing rooms .

I would see it as inappropriate for a 9 year old girl to be among naked men .

It’s sad in a way , but I would say separate showers and changing rooms at whatever age.

This is why I have not been to a public pool since I was a kid. If I feel the need to get that wet I’ll sit in the bathtub.

I agree that there should be a cut off age for little ones in the showers, man or women. Older shower facilities do not have doors or curtains but open with concrete/block walls. At our State Park, it is pretty open. As I showered very late it was no problem but not everyone has that option.
