Hey y’all. I want to tell everyone, Merry Christmas. Y’all have helped me more than I could ever say, and I wanted to do…something. Anyway, my loving family (whom I tell every year not to get me anything), got me a razor (I have some, but this one’s a little more sturdy, thanks to my mother), a very impressive crucifix (I’ll share some pictures later, my sister-in-law who is a lapsed Catholic, and my brother, who is confused, bought it for me), shoes (which is good, because it’s hard to find my size, this is from my oldest little sister and her boyfriend), a waffle maker (yum, waffles, that’s from my mother) a rosary from my older sister (who converted to Catholicism from Sunni Islam) and a coat from her boyfriend (my family got him a plaque with a Bible verse, since he is Catholic). If you’e wondering why I mentioned religious beliefs, it’s because, even though I as a Christian see the birth of our saviour as the most important aspect of the day, I think all people, and this is especially true in America, can see each other as our fellow man, regardless of beliefs or creed. It’s not that those things aren’t important, the most important thing about me is my religion. There’s just something about Christmas, at least in the west (keep in mind I’ve only been to the US and Canada), where people know they’re supposed to act a certain way, and do things a certain way. Tradition isn’t a dirty word, and people need to stop using it as such. Even if gift exchanging and family get togethers have largely become secular, people usually still know it’s Christmas, and occasionally even know what Christmas is. Merry Christmas y’all, God bless everyone of you. (An addendum: My mother got me a shirt that says :Grammar police, to correct and serve, and I find it hilarious).
