I’m not sure if there’s a current thread on this.

Anyone heard of this?

Basically celebrities are going to dress up in attire inspired by the Church for one of the biggest fashion events in Hollywood.

I’m extremely uncomfortable about this as I’ve already seen some of the designs-a woman dressed up immodestly with a halo (apparently inspired by a saint) and another as a female bedazzled pope.

Oh gosh.

On the bright side, I hope to see some lovely gowns that show respect for the faith, although that’s too much to ask for in Hollywood.

Can’t say as I’m too concerned what a bunch of attention mongering celebrities are planning to dress up as, this week…or any other week.

😂 I couldn’t help myself.

I’m kind of excited for the fashion, but at the same time I really don’t want to be bombarded with pictures of cleavaged Virgin Marys.

And I’m also not excited for the whole double standard talks we’ll be hearing soon (“If this was about Islam…”)

I honestly hope this event shows the beauty of the Church.

I’m super pumped, I can’t say it enough. The fact the show has Vatican garments, and so many Church higher-uppers involved means it can’t be completely distasteful.

I wish I could go. :cry: I’m hoping the coverage is on point! :pray:t2:
 
I just hope it’s done respectfully…I also hope they use male models for the more “papal” style clothes, though. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth seeing a woman dressed up in stylized papal inspired clothes. Just looks odd.
 
There are 2 events.

One is the art display of the Church vestments, I imagine that will be done very well and tastefully. The Metropolitan Museum has many religious paintings and statues.

The other is the Met Gala hosted by Anna Witnour of vogue magazine. She invites celebrities. Who knows what they will wear.i hope it’s tasteful.

“Heavenly Bodies”-I can guess what they mean by that double entendre. I’ll pass on this one. I would probably see more clothed people at the VMAs.
 
So far, it looks like most normal red carpet event, with a halo/head piece here and there

Edit: never mind. Rihanna is dressed as a sexy pope.

I saw Sarah Jessica Parker. Her headpiece reminded me of what Bob Hope made for Lucille Ball in the film “ Fancy Pants”
