Thought this was an interesting little tidbit on Texan/American history… (sorry i from Texas and was a history major in college).

Some Mexican commentators have pointed out the irony of Mexico sending troops to territory it once owned. But Mexican officials have played down that angle.
“We consider this our moral and ethical obligation,” Ruben Aguilar, spokesman for President Vicente Fox, told reporters earlier this week.
“This is just an act of solidarity between two peoples who are brothers,” Aguilar said."
