Mexico has an obligation to care for its citizens just as any other country. It is not our duty or obligation to take another countries problems upon ourselves especially when that country could do its job but will not due to corruption among others. We give assistance to almost every country in the world including Mexico so we are fulfilling our obligation as a Christian nation (while we are still one). Also the citizens of Mexico have a duty to their country to right the wrongs in that country. Running away from them is not the solution. If they don’t fix the problem it will be there for decades to come.
By allowing illegal immigration we are putting a strain on our own country and its ability to provide for its citizens. A country cannot sustain uncontrolled immigration and maintain the same quantity of life for itself. A good example of this is the flood of refugees from hurricane Katrina. Houston has experienced a dramatic increase of crime among other problems. Baton Rouge doubled its population overnight from 200,000 to over 400,000. The infrastructure cannot handle that many. It has put an extreme burden on all services including health care.
We have to have secure borders to protect ourselves. We can’t allow just anyone to enter without any control over the number and the quality of people. Uncontrolled immigration would change the quality of life in the United States such that we may no longer be able to assist others with foreign aid. It’s clearly killing the goose that lays the golden egg.
We have a right to control our own country. If it requires a fence to protect us from the thousands even millions that are entering illegally then so be it. It is unconscionable that another country would demand that we accept its citizens because it will not accept responsibility for them. It is the Mexican government that should be held accountable here and not the United States.
Also the UN has no authority over whether we build a fence or not.
