Because it’s not about that and frankly I don’t think it would change much. Population growth or stability are more dependent on immigration; but that’s not a popular topic today.
The problem isn’t so much the U.S. (which can always draw new population through immigration), but the European and Asian countries that have low birthrates and low levels of immigration. That’s when you’re talking population decline.
