Might be going to Chicago on business

Oh btw, Sharon, Chicago has at least 3 major Little Italy’s. We have a various amount of sporadic LI’s, make sure to grab a gelato with some fried dough at Navy Pier’s Massa, there is another in Elmwood Park. EP, also has a unique kitchen for people who are gluten intolerant called Da Luciano’s. This place has two kitchens, for wheat, and w/o wheat. Who knew that most Italians had this intolerance? Some people just can’t lay off pasta.

:bounce: Oh wow…I don’t know how I’m going to fit all of this in!!! I MUST visit Little Italy…MUST. haha Yes, we Italians find a way to eat our pasta…even if we have to make it with wheat! 😃

So, I might gain a few pounds on this trip, I see. :hmmm: *

Yes, that can be quite possible. Work it off by walking/jogging off the Lakeshore. We have a lot of recreation. North Branch paved Bike Trail. Lake Park in Des Plaines near Ohare is very well kept and a great idea to set up volleyball and such.

A story I read on a vacation site was about a woman who packed on about 10 pounds because she kept eating Giordano’s and beer her whole stay…, then needed a fix when she went home to her southern state, and was relieved to learn that Giordanos ships half baked pies…, she just can’t eat them everyday anymore. I still think that you try it because you never had it OR once a season is okay, but anymore is indulgence.

Oh Italian Beef tip, Jay’s for that hard working blue collar type manly man’s BEEF, tough leather, best homemade hot peppers…, Johnnies for that tender juicy beef, they make the best Homemade Sweet Peppers. I was surprised that most southern states do not have this and do not know what it is…, how do they live?

*You know, it’s funny you say this…we moved to Tampa in 07, and thought we would never find good food, in general. Holy smokes…there are fabulous italian bistros and restaurants everywhere here! I couldn’t believe it! So…many new yorkers for example, are moving to Florida and setting up pizza shops, etc…I was surprised, indeed. I grew up in NJ, and the Italian food there and in NY, is oh my gosh…ridiculously good. I am thinking Chicago will be similiar, albeit they have a different style of pizza there, it sounds like. *
 
No way can you fit all this stuff in. Just be a cafeteria tourist and pick what is most appealing to you.

Oh btw, the shopping on Michigan Avenue is where we have our va va voom $$$$ shops…, Old Orchard, Woodfield, and Oak Brook Malls come in as our nice shopping centers…, there is a City of Chicago store as well that sells old city stuff, there is supposed to be a place off state or michigan on the south side that sells cool Chicago clothing, but I can’t remember the name of it. Our thrift/antiques shops are mostly off Belmont avenue, however you can find many of them in pockets all over town, it is just handy for the small theater/improv area to have so many close to them.

Sorry, this is TMI. lol Well rather all my posts are TMI, no way you will be able to do all of this in one visit. Dont work, have fun!😃
 
Hm, I agree, I think NY Italians will be a great asset to feeding and disciplining the south the more they spread out there!! lol

Chicago isn’t really that much colder that PA, so if you’ve lived in PA you should be able to handle it. 🙂
