Mighty lesser than Almighty

So I got to have a discussion with two J.W.’s that showed up at my door. I felt I controlled the discussion ok, there were a few slip ups on my part and I think I could have addressed the topic of Jesus is God a lot better. Now when it came to Isaiah 9:6”For there has been a child born to us, there has been a son given to us; and the princely rule will come to be upon his shoulder. And his name will be call Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace” (NWT) I tried to point out that “Mighty God” was indeed speaking of Christ. However their response was that the word was Mighty not Almighty. So how could I have approached this situation regarding the usage of Mighy, as they see as lesser, compared to Almighty? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
 
To me they have a jaded interpretation of scriptures. They had a legal problem back in the 50’s when one of their leaders translated scripture. He neither was a scholar or had a real knowledge of the original languages. In the 70’s they miss quoted a Greek scholar on John 1:1 about the word being “a god” not “God”. The scholar told them to stop misquoting him. They have a seven book compendium that one uses to interpret the scriptures. It was written by one of their founders which one slips my mind. The irony is this person said if the bible is not read using these books that in two years you would come to the same conclusion as the rest of Christianity!

Jesus is called Eternal Father too. They dance all around that one.

Mighty means having superior strength and power. It isn’t logical that if Jesus is Mighty, that Jesus is not then also Almighty, with unlimited strength and power.

He is called Eternal Father in the same verse. So He is One with the Eternal Father, who is Almighty God.
 
They’ll have LOTS MORE verses to dispute besides that one.

Sola Scripture in extremis is their deal.

By their own logic and translation this must mean Johavah God is lesser?

I am approached by JWs about twice monthly on average, and as soon as I tell them I am a devout Catholic their smiles become fixed and they bid me Good Day. I never get a chance to engage them in theological conversation. 🙁
