Has anyone heard of the group Militia Immaculata? Are they a legitimate Catholic lay association? I’m a recent convert to the faith and came upon this group while researching lay associations within the Church. I’m interested in joining, but I want to make sure M.I. is o.k. w/ the Church. Anyone have any opinions/experience with this organization? Any comments/opinons would be appreciated. Thank You.🙂

MI is a public lay association, which means it has official approval from the Vatican.

They don’t yet have a wide following because they haven’t been organized in the USA for very long.

A friend of mine from TX attended and liked their meetings and charism very much, but her group dissolved for lack of interest. I’m afraid that’s the only personal experience I have of them.

Have you looked at their national website? Militia of the Immaculata.

Established by Fr. Kolbe who is a true Saint and has a very inspiring story.

Father Kolbe is a beautiful soul. I’ve been meaning to join the MI for more than a year. I may do it this month on August the 21, the day of Our Lady of Knock. I’ve said that before though, and it hasn’t happened yet. All things in God’s perfect time…

I am consecrating myself to Jesus through Mary next week on the Feast of the Assumption. I have been reading the “Kolbe Reader” recently and wearing a Miraculous Medal for quite some time.

I do not yet know if the MI has any groups in my area but plan on finding out.
