<<I am a 58-year-old white woman. I had an abortion 19 years ago. I am not bragging, nor am I apologizing.

I am a mother of three children in their 20s, and I am an ordained Christian minister. I had one child and then twins. Having twins the second time caused me my great good fortune of having three children in diapers. While nursing the twins, I did not think I needed birth control. I was wrong.

When I got pregnant with the child I call “Alma,” which means soul, I was not interested in a fourth child. I chose, with some searching, to exercise my constitutional right and ended her birth.>> don’t worry there’s more 😦

We need to pray for this woman and her church. Reading the exerpt here I thought I’d feel sorry for her; instead she reveals just how self-centered she is and she wants society to be. How can any minister say that abstinence is “immoral to the core?” I feel sorry for and shocked by anyone who can actually say “That’s why we named her, wept for her, wanted her but also knew we did not want her enough.” What kind of person can be a minister and hold these beliefs? It’s just frustrating and so very wrong.

I am just aghast at her self-centeredness. This woman says she recognizes the fact that what she did was murder…but it was her choice to do so? And she calls herself a Christian minister?? That is *sick.*All she’s doing is twisting words around to try to justify her decision to kill her child. I have a feeling, and a hope, that she will come to terms for what she’s done and ask for forgiveness. So sad. 😦

Without apologizing, there is no forgiveness.

“Not interested in a fourth child.” “With some searching.” “Ended her birth.” How disengenuous. IOW: “I was selfish, decided to be selfish, and so I killed my unborn child.”

Yes,a very self- centered act- and then she justifies it by likening it as a necessity just like- men have to go to war? So by her logic- other undesirables, both born and unborn can/should be gotten rid of, if they are inconvenient?
This is what scares me- in 1973 they (the pro-choice side ) argured that it wasn’t murder because it was just tissue and it wasn’t a person.
Now they are admitting that well, yes, it was human and a soul and yes it’s a form of murder but, you see, it’s OK because My woman’s rights and sexuality and lifestyle comes first.
Sigh…Yes we have to pray for her, of course, I think deep down she knows it was wrong.

From the article:

I happen to agree that abortion is a form of murder. I think the quarrel about when life begins is disrespectful to the fetus. I know I murdered the life within me. I could have loved that life but chose not to.

Yes. The argument about when life begins has essentially been won by the pro-lifers. The sad part it–it doesn’t matter.

I expected to read at least one little excerpt as to why she didn’t opt to give her child up for adoption but there was nothing. :nope:

Obviously, protected sex is the most moral thing of all. Unprotected sex is adolescent, immature, sometimes life-threatening and always stupid. Women are mature enough to handle that. We are not babies.
“Unprotected sex is adolescent, immature…” I appreciate a so called minister of Christ telling us married people that practice NFP that our sexuality is immature. My husband and myself are in our 30’s, I believe us to be well beyond the immature sexual stage. And the stupid part? :rotfl:
Sometimes, in the battle over killing our babies, I hear the echo of people wanting to kill women’s maturity and sexuality. I don’t like it. That’s why I am breaking my silence about who I am
My maturity and sexuality has NOTHING to do with, nor can it equateto, killing a child!

Her thought process is immature and selfish. I will certainly keep her in my prayers as she will need healing from her abortion. I will also pray for her “church” as those people are being led astray. 😦

Sounds like a sociopath.

**Man, I can’t believe what I just read! What a cold, selfish woman…No remorse (without there can be no forgiveness)…She obviously doesn’t even think she needs to be forgiven…Reading this woman’s story made me sick…She sounded just plain evil.

The “just war” theory assumes that human beings get caught in terrible choices all the time. This freedom is not just for men; it is for women also.
Hmm - as far as I know, a war to slaughter innocent people because we didn’t “want” them would not be considered a just war. In fact, it wouldn’t be war at all, but genocide.

Now, I realise we don’t know who is going to hell, but if I had to point to an example of the attitude I would expect the damned to have, I could hardly find a better example than this. Of course, she still has time to repent, and I hope she does.

"I could have loved that life but chose not to. "

How unimaginably sad, to choose against love. From a Christian leader at that. Sad. Maybe someday she will come to terms with what that means and choose to love, if belatedly.
