I was just reflecting on the past year and a half. My nephew Samuel Mann (Samuel means God Hears) was born a Thanatophoric dwarf- Look it up on the internet- It is a condition incompatible with life. Most die before or shortly after birth The only prescribed treatment is theraputic abortion. It is considered universally fatal. My sister-in-law was counciled to have an abortion. But she had a wonderful Christian (Don’t know if Catholic) OBGYN. My sister-in-law and brother-in-law are Evangelical Protestant not Catholic. Anyway she didn’t accept the diagnosis and had Samuel. Many Doctors thought he would die. My sister-in-law refused to believe that and let God decide. Actually some might argue she got the hopital and doctors to go to what some might call extreme measures and intervention to try and save the Samuel’s life. This all was going on shortly after the Terri Shivo case and we live in Tampa so in the midst of controversy the doctors and hospital were a more likely willing to indulge them. So that is a good thing. Anyway My nephew is a cute smiling happy baby almost a year and a half old. Yes he still has problems. They have round the clock nursing care for him in their home. He is still tube fed but eats some on his own and still has on a ventilator. But he is a living miracle. Even the Doctors that said he wouldn’t live have written my sister-in law letters. She had great support in the hospital from som pro-life nurses bot protestant and Catholic. Anyway if you want to see my nephew the miracle baby here is a link to his website. Wow! He is a miracle baby! God is certainly good…all the Time! Sounds like he has special parents and aunt too.
May God continue to bless all of you! Tell you story to the American Life League…I bet they would love to here it as well.
They have a wonderful publication that I receive called Celebrate Life and they have articles about families who have beat the odds and little Samuel certainly has done that each day he lives. Here’s a little information about the organization.
