Have you ever had an experience and it left you wondering if it was a miracle or not? I have one experience that I was not sure what it was.
It happened I think around 1998. My mom like all us has her little quirks. But one that annoyed my brothers and I was checking the gas stove. We had to make sure that the gas pilot wasn’t out or that everything was off and there was no gas leaking.
It was so annoying. We would all be out the door going some place and then have to go back and check the stove if my mom told us to. Sure a couple of times the gas leaked and yeah the news showed a couple of houses that blew up because of gas leaks, but I thought my mom was taking it a little too extreme and it went on for such a long time.
Well, one day I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the washroom. Nothing out of the ordinary. As I was walking back to my room I got the smell of gas. I stopped and began sniffing around, but I didn’t smell it anymore. I thought my mom’s paranoia had finally gotten to me, lol.
I wanted to go back to sleep as soon as possible otherwise I wouldn’t be able to go back to sleep again. But then, I heard like a loud whisper say “Just go check”. It scared me for awhile. It was weird. I sniffed around some more and there was no gas smell. I didn’t want to go. This time I didn’t hear a voice, but I “felt” like if someone said “C’mon go, your’re already up” and “What have you got to lose” which I thought/responded to with “My sleep”.
But reluctantly I started walking down the stairs. All the while I was sniffing the air, lol, and I thought it was ridiculous since I didn’t smell gas. I was at the kitchen door and there was still no smell of gas. I just kept wanting go back to bed, but there was that urging “Your almost there” feeling.
I entered the kitchen. I went up to the stove and there was the smell of gas! I checked the pilot and yes indeed it was out. I lit it up and quickly went to sleep. But when I woke up it was the first thing on my mind. I had to tell my mom. I tried to analyze it. But even if my mom’s paranoia had gotten to me, what were the chances that the gas was leaking? And the house would have filled up gas a lot before anyone would have woken up.
It’s just weird and I actually have never done that again in all these years. I finally stopped dismissing that experience and I consider it was like an “angelic nudging”.
