Miracles today?

Why is it we don’t see, as in the early church, a much greater prevalence of miracles accompanying the spread of the Gospel?

Mark 16:17-18
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Acts 8:6-7 When the crowds heard Philip and saw the signs he performed, they all paid close attention to what he said. 7 For with shrieks, impure spirits came out of many, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed.
 
Wow, i was wondering something like this today as well. But more in line with why dont we have more expelling of demons, or hear more about casting out demons. Were demons more prevalent in ancient times? i would think not, in fact, i would think more now days…
 
Perhaps God allowed the grace of abundant miracles to strengthen the early Christians, knowing they would face persecution and martyrdom. Remember when Jesus transfigured on the mountain in front of Peter, James and John? Jesus deemed it necessary to show these apostles His glory to help them get through the difficult times ahead.

There are physical healings and powerful healings of conversion that occur today, but of course you won’t read about them in the secular paper.

The devil goes about like a roaring lion today, as well as in the early Church, and we need much prayer and fervent reception of the sacraments.

Don’t blame the media for not report in miracles; blame ourselves for not recognizing them!

People often wonder why God doesn’t speak to them…Have does often, most times in whispers that we miss while waiting thunderous sounds.

The same holds true for miracles.

Let’s wake up!

At every Mass we witness the bread and wine turning into the body and blood of Christ.

If that isn’t a miracle, how can we claim the Real Presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament?

Why would secular newspaper with an anti-religion bias wants to report such stuff?
Why would anyone experiencing a personal miracle wants to publicise something which may be deemed embarrassing (like being possesed) . Doctors will just proclaim a stabilization of a mental deterioration.
Even if someone experience a miracle cure, it is often impossible to prove it as a miracle. Doctors will just be amazed and move on. No fanfare.
And how exactly are you going to prove a miracle? If you can’t since you didn’t start with a lab setup, how are you going to convince any scientist of that miracle? Your friends, family, relatives may be willing to testify on your behalf but that is not proof by scientific methods.

Why waste time on such marketing? Praise God and move on. Miracles are every where and if it is not sensational news with special effects, no newspapers are interested.
 
Not to be cheeky, but I witness the Miracle of the Mass every Sunday. Transubstantiation.

Yes, so many demons in the morning… especially on the roads… in peak hour! = the demon of road rage possesses many - they are legion! truly!. :eek:

I think hyper-caffeinated energy drinks and Starbucks has more to do with it than demons.

In order to prove a miracle, the Church does ask doctors for any records and other relevant information. If a cure occurs, it must last for a specified period of time. In one case, in South America, a submarine accidentally collided with a Japanese ship, and the sub was taking on water. People were dying. Someone prayed and saw a bright light. He then opened a door and saved more people. Naval experts investigated the incident and stated that what he did was impossible. That tons of water pressure would normally have prevented anyone from opening that door.

You are not paying attention. Only a dozen or so miracles are recorded as being performed by Jesus in the three years of His ministry. There are many more miracles today then Our Lord performed now.

🙂 yeah, you know I am always reminded of the beginning of Acts when the miracle of speaking in tongues was on display and some of the people were like “ahhh, these men are full of new wine.”. There will always be deniers… even within the midst of the supernatural.
