I’m in the middle of a massive overhaul of my site, miserere.org.

The old site is disabled at the moment, but if you visit for a few secs, you’ll se a glimpse of what the new layout will look like.

Note that this is one of four or five planned visual styles for the page – the style will be selectable by clicking on the name at the bottom. (It won’t work yet – I haven’t uploaded all the files.)

What do you think of the new look??

Is that Home Page going to be black and gray or are your going to add some color?

Made some updates to the infrastructure of the new site.

There are now FOUR THEMES for your viewing pleasure:

1 - *Pietà: *Black & white theme (default)
2 - Capodimonte Crucifix: Serene brown/beige theme
3 - Sacred Heart: Bright orange/reddish theme
4 - Bambino: Purple and lavendar theme with Madonna & Child

You change the theme by clicking on the appropriate style in the footer bar; alternatively, in Firefox, go to View → Page Style and choose the stylesheet you want.

How do you like the new look? Check it out at miserere.org!

The restored & updated content is coming shortly!

Added link to the Catholic Answer’s forums.
Added live EWTN video feed.

Added RSS feed support. Now shows headlines from EWTN and a link to today’s gospel. More RSS newsfeeds will be added when I discover quality ones.

Anyone know of RSS feeds or sites that list:
  • Readings of the day (new order mass)
  • Readings of the day (traditional mass)
  • Saints of the day
  • Feast day / calendar
  • Today in history
  • Word of the day

So, which color theme do you like the best?
  • Pieta’ - original black & gray theme from the old site
  • Capodimonte - serene beige & brown (default)
  • Sacred Heart - fiery red & orange
  • Bambino - lavendar
Vote in the poll that I posted [here (http://forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?p=904810#post904810).

To change theme, click in the navigation bar on the right – *VisualStyle: * P | C | S | B ] – to choose between Pieta’, Capodimonte, Sacred Heart and Bambino. The theme selector also appears at the bottom of each page in the footer bar.

  • Updated the look of the miserere blog.
  • Added “Alessandro’s Sketchbook” (personal photoblog).
  • Added direct feeds of news headlines (click on the link for ‘News’)
Just gotta update the content now!!

Tweaked the interface further.

Added a few entries to the blog.

Will add real content this weekend, as time allows.

Just a suggestion, keep your colors a black and greyish color, I hate light colors or white, that stuff will burn out your retenas at night.

Most of the site is programmed from scratch; HTML/XML/PHP written in a text editor and tested on Internet Explorer and Firefox.

The blog is based on WordPress code, but I designed my own templates and edited a number of its functions, etc.

Added a few new features… There is a quote-of-the-day feature on the homepage, as well as Today’s Gospel.

The weblog is pretty active and seems to be well-received, although not as busy as the highly entertaining www.andrewcusack.com, which I highly recommend.

Started adding back some prayers, such as the Holy Rosary.

Added a list of forums, weblogs and podcasts.

I really like the Pieta and the Madonna col (shouldn’t that be “con”?) Bambino… can’t really make up my mind… :hmmm:

The Italian col is a contraction of con + il (with + the). Instead of saying La Madonna con il Bambino, you shorten it to Madonna col Bambino.

I cleaned up the CSS, typography and layout design for a cleaner look.

For those of you who liked the dark colors of the Pietà theme but tired of reading bright text on a dark background, I’ve created a sister theme that is the same black/grey graphics everywhere but the content area – that is, the text is black on a white background for easier reading.

I just provided a new version of the ‘Way of the Cross’ on my web site, featuring scenes from The Passion of the Christ.

As you all know, watching the movie is a spiritual pilgrimage in and of itself.

I created a Via Crucis to parallel the film so that I might accompany Christ, with sadness and love, on his sorrowful journey as often as possible. I hope that others find it useful to their Lenten meditations/mortifications and year-round devotions.

Check it out here.
Other versions of the Way of the Cross are here.

And if you haven’t already, buy the film!

The infrastructural renovation of miserere.org is now complete, with the entirety of the site reprogrammed in PHP and brought up to so-called ‘Web 2.0’ standards! The site is now much easier to update and maintain – so stay tuned for the addition of tons of new content! Furthermore, there is now built-in abilit for users to post comments on most pages; and I can allow guest authors to contribute essays to the site, for a little variety.

Please check it out!
