There was a thread, I can’t find it now, maybe it was deleted, about the tawdry nature of the Miss America pagent. I am ambivalent about such contests, never watch them anyway, but I did see one redeeming value in the paper this morning.

Apparently, Miss California, who ended up runner-up, was asked about “gay marriage”. Her response was reported as:

“I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody there. But that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be,”

Apparently she feels that speaking her mind cost her the title of Miss America; perhaps so, I wouldn’t doubt it.

Kudos to Miss California for speaking her mind. It probably cost her a LOT of money, considering what endorsements Miss Americas receive.

It was the Miss USA contest and her answer wasn’t clear and concise.
Miss NC gave a clear response to her question.
I thought that Miss NC was the better candidate even before the question.
However, the judge did admit that her answer to the question was the reason he voted
against her.

Duplicate threads would be easier to spot if everyone would use the headline of the article, which is usually descriptive, rather than creating their own editorialized version, which often is obscure until you read the article.

Actually I noticed there are 4 now. One is merely called “Miss America.”

I didn’t use the original citation I came across, because then I might have to quote the gossip page, whose name (acronym) offends me. I think my title came close (Losing Crown Over Moral Belief). The full subtitle was a lot longer, and a long title can obscure the subject, too.

A very courageous young lady.
I didn’t think politically loaded questions like the one ventured by bottom-feeder-celebrity-gossip Perez Hilton were allowed or encouraged. If the contestant had been Arab-American would they have allowed a question such as: “Should Israel give back all occupied territory taken after the 1967 Arab-Israeli conflict in accordance with U.N. Resolution 242?”
Or what if someone had asked one of the black contestants: “Do you believe it is proper to impose mandatory racial quotas in all aspects of the workplace?”
Then again, most “gay” celebs are also self-appointed activists who never seem to miss an opportunity to advance their agenda in the public eye. Hilton saw his opening at the Miss USA pageant and he took it. Nice to see it backfire in his face.

Gutsy gal! As of today, she’s not backing down, either. Doesn’t it seem sort of goofy having a homosexual judge for a female beauty pageant? The organizers were just asking for it, if you ask me…
