What changes were made in the missal of 1962 and the previous one?
Try this:What changes were made in the missal of 1962 and the previous one?
No, I think the document that you are thinking of is Blessed John XXIII’s De musica sacra et sacra liturgia in 1958. (Though the Dialogue Mass was sanctioned by the Holy See dating back to the 1920s, in various instances.)I know the 1962 Mass was sometimes said as a dialogue Mass. Was it the Missal of 1962 that first made allowance for a dialogue Mass? Or was that in another document?
Not to be contrarian but I think the Missal most previous to the Missal of 1962 was the Missal of 1953. If the document was issued in the interim between the two, the 1962 Missal would have reflected the change. No, there is no 1953 missal. The previous edition was 1960, which included the new rubrics of Blessed John XXIII, and formally included the Holy Week changes made in late 1955 and in 1957. Prior to that, the 1955 edition included the kalendar changes, which impacted collects said on feasts of saints. Before that it was the 1920 typical edition. Not to be contrarian but I think the Missal most previous to the Missal of 1962 was the Missal of 1953. Technically the 1570 Missal had “dialogue” although the cum ministris versicles were recited by the servers, perhaps their most important function prior to Vatican II.I know the 1962 Mass was sometimes said as a dialogue Mass.
