As an open-minded non-believer, I don’t question God’s power but rather I question his will. I’m willing to accept (theoretically) that God can heal anyone regardless of their condition. It would be easy work for a being that is all-powerful. In my opinion, it’s really an added benefit for a sick patient to have all of the natural but limited medical options PLUS all of supernatural/unlimited options. The thing many may struggle with is worrying about when or if God will act. I wouldn’t expect God to grant every single request. What I would struggle with is in not knowing WHY and that’s the topic of this thread.

Questions:
  1. Why doesn’t God leave us with an answer for why he doesn’t act? Or are people missing a clear response?
  2. Is it wrong for God to not mention why he doesn’t act?

If you read the bible, it’s about your spiritual growth, not how to dial 911 for a magical boost.

If you are focusing on ‘miracles’ you are on the wrong path of discovery in developing your faith. You will be disappointed.

That first video title is such a slap in the face to all of us, but one we desperately need. God already gave us way too much in letting us continue living after committing the sins we have. Whatever else we get is a gift from His endless mercy, and we can’t ever forget that.

I suppose another way to think about this is through God’s omnipotence and His all-knowingness. We as finite human beings cannot begin to comprehend all that God knows. Thus, it would not be unreasonable for God to withhold certain information from those who are unable to understand certain things. Certain people like, say, everyone.

It’s like me asking a physicist why he is putting all sorts of atoms together and making them interact. And asking what is going to happen. God very often tells us why he is doing things. Ultimately he is saving us. That’s the reason. The how is more like the intricate interactions between the atoms of the physicist. No matter how many times that physicist explains it to me, I will not understand.

Just something to think about.

My thoughts come from dealing with people w/ terminal illnesses. SOme of them are Christians, so I bring up this topic from their standpoint. I’ve actually brought up my question to a chaplain and all he told me was that God has an appointed time for everyone to die, some young and some old. I’m still reading through the responses here, of course.

Thanks for the videos although I prefer answers in text just to make sure I come away with the same understanding that you did. The first video says that God owes us nothing and I agree with that which is why he doesn’t grant every request. Based on the 2nd video, I can understand that God wants to develop us, and timing is necessary rather than on-demand/instant answers/miracles.

I just question if people ever get a clear/specific answer or are we left only with generalities, like God is developing us, or we wouldn’t understand the answer. Perhaps the best answer you can give are these general ones, but I just figured it would be better to have a more objective and/or specific way of knowing God’s plan for a Christian’s life.
