Is it a sin?
We had every intention of going to Mass this morning as usual, and then realized it would be cutting it very close for me to get to my students’ music recital (I teach music lessons). My boss sets the schedule, and I teach on Saturdays, so I did not have any control over the recitals being scheduled for Sunday. We planned that my husband would make the 3 hour round trip drive to pick up our other children from my sister while I was at the recital, and we would all go to the evening Mass.
Instead, I got home to find that he had not picked up the kids, but made arrangents with her to meet at 7:00, requiring one of us to leave at the same time Mass started. So he took one bunch of kids to Mass while I drove up to get the others.
I could have told my sister I’d meet her later, but then she would have ended up getting home quite late, when she has to work in the morning.
There was no issue of illness here, obviously, but I’m not sure what else I could have done. Is this a sin?
