On the contrary, although Canon Law does allow some exceptions.
Canon Law is a living document, constantly evolving and revisioning… wholeheartedly mufactured by Man. It’s Man’s law, not Gods.

Theist, start another thread. Dolphin is Catholic, she wanted the Catholic view, not yours.

Hey guys, thanks for your response, i built up the courage and went to church! im glad i did, i feel much better now also.
God Bless you all and may he give you strength
Man THANK YOU JESUS.

I was thinking about you on the walk to Mass today (Church is around the block for me).

I am so glad.

Amen Lily!

Theist, if you want to pontificate, start a new thread and take it to the forum. When folks ask for the Catholic view, to be clear, they are not asking for your personal thinking.

There are many subdivisions of Catholicism. Not all of them agree with your views.

Don’t assume you know what people want. That is very dangerous.

You’re right. But they are rules for those who wish to maintain their status of Catholics in good standing.

My views? :ehh: Rome’s views - Christ’s views as passed on through Peter and the Apostles and their successors! And aren’t you equally assuming - assuming that she wants to hear anything from the likes of you?

And whatever your views may be, you are in no subdivision of Catholicism. Whatever you may choose to call yourself. Neither is anyone who is not in union with Rome.

Essentially this was a matter between you and your confessor. IF you knew that having a few drinks would induce the anxiety attack then you would to some degree have been culpable for missing Mass.

I’m glad you were able to make it to Mass, anxiety attacks can be debilitating.

Theist, although i will say thank you for your response, Lily is right, im catholic through and through and will only heed a true catholics response.
But as i said, thank you.

You are right there are many views of Catholicism but they are called protestants…

It very dangerous to stand idly by while Catholics are falling off the cliff into protestism.

Fear not, missing mass is not a sin. Believing in God and having Faith in Jesus is all you need to enter into his good graces. These artificial constraints you speak of are Man’s law, not God’s law.
This is not Catholic teaching, as Dolphinlove knows…and we believe that it is God’s law.

Fear not, 1)missing mass is not a sin. Believing in God and having 2) Faith in Jesus is all you need to enter into his good graces. These 3) artificial constraints you speak of are Man’s law, not God’s law.
Allow me to share this with you.

  1. *]scripture teaches we are NOT to miss mass.[Heb 10:25-26] quoted below
*]Faith requires obedience and doing what is taught, [Jas 2:14…]otherwise one has a said faith which is nothing.
*]Scripture didn’t come from the notions of man but was given us by the inspiration of God.
I’ll just focus on the 1st point. (emphasis mine)
    :
Heb 10:25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
    comment,

Notice, all emphasis is mine with the exception of capitalizing Day. This would be the Day we meet which is Sunday, when we celebrate the Eucharist. And notice the command is DON’T NEGLECT TO MEET. You might ask, or what happens?
26 For if we sin deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27* but a fearful prospect of judgment, and a fury of fire which will consume the adversaries.
    Comment

Notice missing mass deliberately IS a sin after we receive this knowledge. In fact it is a deadly sin. Why? Because at mass we celebrate the sacrifice for sin, the Eucharist, the blood of the New and everlasting covenant, for the forgiveness of sin. We celebrate the life death and resurrection of our Hope, Jesus. If one blows off mass, they scorn our very hope, which is Jesus. And what happens? A fearful jusgement on that person. That makes missing mass deliberately, a mortal sin

    To conclude
    :
28* A man who has violated the law of Moses dies without mercy at the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29* How much worse punishment do you think will be deserved by the man who has spurned the Son of God, and profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and outraged the Spirit of grace?
So you see, missing mass on purpose is crushingly serious. One can’t even comprehend its importance and seriousness.

You being a theist, I mention this only because I sense no one has shared this with you before. Catholics take this issue you speak of very seriously and so should you.

    I hope this helps
