I am going out of town with family friends and we will not be near a Catholic during our trip. I have searched and googled and what-not to find one, but we simply will not be near.

Now, I can go on this trip and be unable to attend Sunday or Saturday night mass.

OR

I can not go on this trip with my friends, stay home and go to mass as usual.

I am unsure if going would count as “unable to attend mass”, since I was able to attend mass, but I left the place that would allow me to do so.

Any advice? Any fellow Catholics who have been in similar situations before? 🙂

You can always ask your parish priest for a dispensation. However, if the dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass due to Covid-19 is still in effect in your parish or where you are going, then there is no obligation to attend Mass.

But to be safe, talk to your pastor. He very well could tell you that if there is no Mass available, then there is no obligation to attend.

If you are somewhere where you cannot attend due to distance to the nearest church, I believe you are okay. The question for some would be how far is too far.

Speak to your priest and see what he advises.
