I’ve just returned to the Church after an absence of about 10 months. I’ve had a lifelong battle with weak faith and during this time I’ve done a lot of reading about different faiths - protestant, hindu etc. In my heart and head, though, I know that Catholicism is the truth and I always feel that I am being called back home to the Church. Three weeks ago I went to confession and was feeling great that I was back at home. This past Sunday I missed Mass due to the threat of severe weather. We did have some heavy rain in the morning (with a tornado watch for most of the day). It did clear later in the day - early enough for me to go to the 5 pm mass although we still were under a high wind warning. I no longer can drive due to partial vision loss but my husband was willing to drop me off at church. Since this would be around dinner time (I am a type 1 diabetic and eating on time is important) I do not go to Mass at that time of day. At the time, I thought that this would not be sinful, but know I am feeling that I should have gone. I’m not looking for an excuse, but just what is an acceptable excuse for missing Mass?
