To begin with, neither I nor, anyone I am connected to have exerted physical violence towards the LDS missionaries. That said this thread is for those funny “chase away” stories we here from time to time. I’ll start. A friend of mine told me this one. His father was at a friend’s place, who’s wife was waning from their (Orthodox) Church, towards Mormonism. Two missionaries would visit quite often. On this day however the husband became somewhat weary, so he took a gun (hopefully unloaded) and pointed it directly at the face of one of the two (well meaning) missionaries. They became so frightened they never darkened his door again. Or any in his suburb for that matter. Note this is not to make fun of Mormonism par se, rather its to shed a little light on this forum which is rather hostile. We can all learn to laugh at ourselves.

Definitely not a very good way to get rid of them. The best way when they are unwelcome and persistent is to call the local church offices and tell them that they are unwelcome, and you will call the police if they stop by again. I just tell them that I am not interested, and that I have already made my choice of religion.

I have heard of some people who see them coming up the walk, quickly strip down to underwear, and greet them at the door. Not a real good response, either.

Not very charitable either for men who are trying to spread the (false) gospel.

I tell them that I would love to become a god someday and beget billions of spiritual children through multiple spiritual baby factories (wives), but I just can’t give up beer. I say, “once you get a new revelation allowing comsuption of alcohol I’m in!” They usually don’t know what to say to that.

I just came home and they were at my door. I got out of my car and walked up to them with a smile. They told me were LDS missionaries and I pointed to the statue of Our Lady of Fatima by my steps and said they had probably figured out by the statue that we are Catholics.

Then I said:

*Actually, it is because of two young LDS missionaries that I became a committed Catholic. * Their eyes grew wide…

I went on to say that having been approached, I went looking for the answers to some questions I had and after researching the early Church and reading the ECF I found the answer was the Catholic Church, although I had not wanted it to be The One!

That stunned them. I also mentioned that years after having found
my answers I found out that Thomas Aquinas had explained it all in the Summa Theologica. Please God one or both of them goes online and reads it or the writings of the ECF.

BTW I did not wish them well (spreading their false religion) just said to have a nice day.

there are 4 JWs actually 2 elderly couples, who sit in their car in the supermarket parking lot on Saturday morning and approach those shoppers as they return to their cars. I see them every week as I stop to get pan dulce and juice for RCIA. The first time I said, actually, I don’t want your magazine because I am a committed loyal Catholic and believe only in that teaching revealed by and through Christ and taught by his Church, and I am on my way now to teach bible classes to children. I did offer to pray with them. they refused the first time, but now we greet each other and say a little prayer together. little do they know I am praying the rosary for them all the way to work. so we know who is going to win this round.

the Mormons are not allowed inside our gated community, no solicitors of any kind are allowed, but our street is outside and on their regular route, and the word must be out that they will be offered a cold bottle of water and bathroom privileges here because they usually stop, even the Spanish-speakers. the altarcito with OL Guadalupe and all the candles, not to mention crucifixes at every doorway, give them the clear message they are not going to make any headway here, but hey, when nature calls.
