Hello I am currently a college student. I want to do missionary work. My only problem is first I need to be in school fall and spring semesters. Also my college is secular and doesn’t have any missionary activities that I could join. Does anyone know of anything I could do. As of know I am in good health and willing to travel. Live in america.

This is important to me because I want to help people and apply Christian principles.

Thank you very much and god bless.:

How close are you to graduation? I would get my degree first, then it’s “open season!” There are many lay missionary organizations that would love to have you! Or maybe you could join a religious order (do you have a vocation to the religious life, perhaps?)?

If you want to visit a third world country to be inspired and challenged, you could probably find some lay group that would take you for a short term, and could keep you busy in an orphanage or a kitchen. If you want to be really effective and work for the people of another land (and usually impoverished in some way), finish your degree, get into an organization or order that will put you to work for a minimum of 2 or 3 years (so that you can learn the language and be part of the culture)–this is where the real work and generosity will bear much fruit. I was a volunteer with a Catholic organization, overseas for 3 1/2 years, before getting married and having kids. I hope all my kids will somehow serve their brothers and sisters around the world in a similar fashion.

Or, he could just wait a couple of years or so while the Democrat’s new laws kick into effect and be a missionary to the third world country in which we are living now. 😃 (Okay, sarcasm off. LOL)

Hi-
you could also try in your city where you are or close to you. We have lots of impoverished people in our own country. It might give you an
insight as to exactly how you want to serve others. Or even someplace like
Appalachia. The poverty there is unbelievable. Just a thought. Good luck with your discernment about this.

Thank you everyone how has giving advice is must appreciated! 🙂 For the question on how far in college. Right now start of year two probably two too three years at least to go.
