HaHa, yes, I am going to tell them that we won’t help them unless they accept a crucifix, and I will stay there until they do 🙂 You must think I am some kind of lunatic 🙂

Have a great day!
No, but you have recieved fair warning.
You can’t say we didn’t warn you when you get flat out screamed at by an evangelical…

I’ve seen people absolutely lose it at the idea of the corpus on the cross…

True enough. If you are really convinced a cross of some kind is acceptable, then definitely just a cross, or one with a figure of Christ in Glory, which used to be so popular.

I’ve had another idea, though - how about a nice general all-occasion ‘Thinking of you’ greetings card from a Christian bookshop, perhaps with a Bible verse on?

I think we all understand that your Catholic faith means so much to you that you want to share some of its riches with others, but we have to be careful not to offend the sincerely-held beliefs of others. It’s easily done.

I’ve sometimes thought about this kind of thing.

Might I recommend:

a holy card, with the Our Father / Lord’s Prayer on the back? That might appeal to non-Catholic folks more than a rosary or a crucifix. They may keep it around longer.

I wanted to follow up on this question that I posted awhile back, just to say that instead of rosaries, I am going to take a crucifix as a gift on the home visits that I do for St. Vincent de Paul, because I think those would generally not be objectionable to non-Catholics, as some have suggested. Also, I am not going to have these crucifixes blessed. I really appreciate all the thoughts that have been offered to me in response to this concern! +
I don’t really understand why you would want to offer gifts to people when you understand that it may confuse them. It could at worst alienate them. The SVP offers help with no strings to all. I’m not sure that offering these gifts is helpful at all. I know the SVP in the UK offer a great deal of help to many non Christian refugees and always do so without any denominational strings

Hello, Protestant here! You would do better giving them something that both Catholics and Protestants agree on. Something focused on Jesus (but not a crucifix), maybe a Bible or bookmark with scripture. I say this because handing out a crucifix or rosary has a very Catholic connotation to a Protestant and immediately separates the Catholic from the Protestant. The goal, in my mind, would be to show them that Catholics and Protestants have a lot of beliefs in common, and focus on bridging the gap from there.
