My priest today, in the homily; told us to invest in relationships with other people and to say hi to people after Mass. As I’m still establishing myself socially in my parish; is it okay to mill around after Mass and talk to people and try to make friends?

I don’t see why not, we’re called to live in fellowship with one another. I mean as long as it’s not interrupting the mass you should be fine to do so.
🙂

Does your mass do tea and coffee or offer any fellowship groups? If not then I don’t see any harm in trying to mingle outside after mass.

I think it’s a very good idea, sometimes it’s hard to make the time or catch people before they move away.
To be there at mass participating in something so amazing together and then move out without really knowing who others were is kind of sad.All have something in common to begin with,so it shouldn’t be so hard to start up conversation really

So far, I’m in a That Man Is You men’s group and sometimes there’s fellowship functions with food. I just suppose, next time there is one; to bring some cash along and mingle.

Depending on the parish and/or the Mass time, you may get response after Mass or you may find it more helpful for mingling to go to prayer services, activities and Masses during the week.

I tend to find that unless they attend a coffee and donuts meet up after Mass on Sunday, people are kind of in a rush to leave then. But if you attend stuff on any other day, you tend to find friendlier people who have made time in their day for church and fellowship and will often say hi if they see a new, unfamiliar face.

Thanks, Tis. I’m trying to establish myself socially at my parish; so I’m going to try your suggestion. 😊
