Mockingnjay 2 (no spoiler in my post)

My elder daughter and I went to see Mockingjay Part 2 today.

I read the books, saw the other movies, and really wasn’t interested in this one. If my daughter didn’t have her heart set on seeing it, I wouldn’t have taken her. I liked the others at first, but…maybe I was overexposed to them over time.

Anyway, I really liked it. Not a particularly happy movie (it’s heavy drama), but very well done. I’m not a movie buff but I know a good performance when I see it and Jennifer Lawrence delivers. Wow, does she deliver.

(Confession time) And I have to admit, I thought I had a crush on JLaw before. Now I *know *I have a crush on her.

I thought it was better than the last one, but still not as good as the first two. It again felt like there was a lot of padding. But this is probably due to the fact that they decided to split the last part into two films. (I never read any of the books, but that seemed completely unnecessary to me)

It seemed like after every action scene they had to sit down on the floor, (whether it was in a blown out building, apartment, sewage tunnel, basement, or hospital) talk about their feelings, question what they are doing, encourage each other… lather, rinse, repeat. They could have cut out or at least shortened three of those scenes and not lost anything.

But I agree about Jennifer Lawrence’s performance, she was strong.
