In other Catholic forums where they use moderators, the moderators have to identify themselves if they participate in any of the threads. I haven’t seen anyone here identified in that fashion. Is it because I haven’t come across it yet, or is it because moderators do not have to ID themselves in our threads?

I’m not aware that the moderators actually participate here. It feels like the only time they get involved is to close a thread.

The mods almost never “participate in a thread” here. I’ve seen them post maybe twice since the forum moved to Discourse a couple years ago.

The moderators go by camoderator, the web admin goes by Web_Admin, and Jon Sorensen who is CA staff posts as Jon Sorensen.

How did you know they were a moderator?
When they notify you in an official fashion, responding to a flag most typically. They do not give out their names apart from camoderator.

Thanks Fauken. It sounds like when they have their moderator hats on, we know it is a moderator involved. How about when they are not working? Can and do they participate in the threads under the guise of a regular member with a regular member icon and name?

That would seem unfair, since if they hold the account for camoderator that is one account, and a person is not supposed to hold two separate accounts. It would be making the other account a sock puppet.
