Modern day revelations?

Is it possible for mere ‘everyday’ people to have revelations about the future? When reading the book of revelations…they almost appear like dreams, like premonitions…like the Holy Spirit offering insight into certain situations…

But, I feel at times in my life, I have been enlightened by the Holy Spirit? Is that considered a revelation, or enlightenment? Are there modern day revelations, with regards to the future of mankind? (that are reliable?) Or…do things sort of ‘conclude’ with the book of revelations??

Some guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!

I regularly have dreams with strong religious meanings or with things that are probable to happen I have talked to dead relatives, Jesus etc in my dreams. In one dream I was walking with the Pope and he was shot by 6 gunmen. It is my personal opinion that God may reveal anything to anyone that he wishes.

I highly recommend that you read about Lourdes and Fatima. I may get the boot for mentioning Garabandal but I did anyways.

Yes, some people do receive revelations from God in the modern days.

We need to differentiate between public and private revelation. Public revelation ended with the death of the last apostle, St. John. That is what the doctrine and the teachings of the Catholic faith are based on.

Private revelation, that which can still be received by people today, if authentic, will always be completely in line with the public revelation already given. Furthermore, there is no moral obligation for a person to believe the private revelation of others.

Finally, those receiving revelations must not seek it for their own good, otherwise it would be limiting the gift to superstition and pride. But rather, it is a gift given by God to be used for His own purposes only.

But that aside, yes, the Holy Spirit continues to enlighten and guide the faithful in a multitude of ways, including revelations of various sorts.
