I just saw this and it’s too funny to not post.

Regarding modest attire for women: instead of men blaming their sins on immodestly dressed women, they should simply follow Jesus’ instructions in Matthew 18:9.

Hey…it’s mostly Catholics here. Very few can even find Matthew 18:9, let alone know what it says from memory.
From the context of the joke I assume it refers to if your eye causes you to sin pluck it out.

That isn’t new information?

What if you have a photographic memory? What do you pluck out then…

Better pluck out your brain too.

This joke just gets funnier with each subsequent post. I’m about to rupture a lung from all the laughing.

I expect plucking jokes closer to thanksgiving or Christmas

Isn’t there anything less permanent? Blindfolds on entry or something?

Pepper spray.

what are the instructions in Matthew 18:9

I am Australian, I don’t get the joke, or even see one.
Please explain

I thought the same thing at first and then I realised that on the hill has seen Matthew 18:9 quoted as a remedy for men complaining about women wearing immodest clothing in church, ie women shouldn’t change their dress…men should pluck out an eye as a remedy instead!

It’s funny, with a small f . No disrespect to Our Lord intended.

I just extended it to the photographic memory thing for fun…

Actually, Christ was using a form of language called hyperbole. Saying something that is so outrageous to make a point.

Who would have guessed that Jesus had such a way with words. I’m glad I read your post when I did. I was just about to pluck my eye out.

Yes I understand. Sometimes it difficult to discern exactly what is meant. I’m sure that some things are meant to be taken literally and some not so much. Thank you.

I have an interesting idea I’m going to research in a minute which is relevant to this.

Someone with a prosthetic (glass) eye could have some fun with this. Or someone with a prosthetic hand or foot. Before Halloween, I read an article about how amputees can have a lot of fun dressing up their limbs with fake blood and gore. That would liven up the Mass, don’t you think?

I knew a boy in high school who had had a leg amputated at the knee when he was very young. He had loads of fun around people who didn’t know. Like, he would feign anger/frustration in class and jam a pencil or a pair of scissors into his leg, which would completely freak out the other kids. Supposedly, in elementary school he would sometimes take it off and wave it over his head and chase other kids around the playground.
