Hi everyone. So, I work at a museum and every year our museum hosts a family friendly halloween event for school aged children. I am volunteering to be a candy runner. I am a young woman in need of a modest, family friendly halloween costume that is rather cheap. As I said, I work at a museum so I’m not the wealthiest gal in the world. Any suggestions on how to buy/make a decent halloween costume would be wonderful.

Mrs. Frizzle from the magic school bus books/show would be kid friendly, modest, and you might be able to do it with clothing you already own.

My girls enjoy Brooklyn and Bailey, a Mormon set of twins on YouTube. They have some cute costume ideas that are modest…

This link is for doubles costumes, but most of them are great on their own. My favorite is the black morph costume with black clothes on top.

How about a scarecrow costume? You’d just need oversize bluejean overalls and a big plaid shirt and some small pillows for stuffing. You could cut thin strips of yellow/gold felt for “straw” and glue them at your wrists and ankles and everywhere else that the scarecrow’s straw would normally fall out, and it wouldn’t be scratchy. The extra pockets of the overalls might come in handy…it would be a warm costume, tho, which may not work in a big busy crowd.

Granted, I don’t celebrate Halloween. Our priest encouraged us to celebrate All Souls and All Saints Days instead. But costume-wise, if you have an old sheet, cut some holes in it (for eyes, and mouth) and go as a ghost.

Get some cheap black clothes for underneath and decorate a tv box and go as

Discobot! 🎉
