As other’s are saying… Moloch was an ancient pagan diety which his followers… some in Caana, use to offer children as sacrifice to them.
As I heard from sources… in at least one text, it describes a clay statue of Moloch which was hollow. They’d light a fire inside of the statue and wait for it to get glowing hot.
The statue had 2 outstretched hands, which the baby was placed on, once the statue was hot enough. The baby sacrifice would then literally COOK to death as tribute to Moloch.
I wish I could find the source of that information.
The bible talks about those who worshipped pagan gods ‘consuming their children’ – that could be in reference to Moloch.
The command not to offer children to Molech was explicit.
*** "Say to the people of Israel, Any man of the people of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, who gives any of his children to Molech shall be put to death; the people of the land shall stone him with stones. I myself will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people, because he has given one of his children to Molech, defiling my sanctuary and profaning my holy name. And if the people of the land do at all hide their eyes from that man, when he gives one of his children to Molech, and do not put him to death, then I will set my face against that man and against his family, and will cut them off from among their people, him and all who follow him in playing the harlot after Molech.** (Leviticus 20:1-4)*
It was a brutal place back then.
Those who dwelt of old in thy holy land
thou didst hate for their detestable practices,
their works of sorcery and unholy rites,
their merciless slaughter of children,
and their sacrificial feasting on human flesh and blood.
These initiates from the midst of a heathen cult,
these parents who murder helpless lives,
thou didst will to destroy by the hands of our fathers,
that the land most precious of all to thee
might receive a worthy colony of the servants of God.(Wisdom 12:3-7)
People wonder why God destroyed the pagans. The book of Wisdom tells us about some of their practices including incest, child sacrifice and cannibalism.
As described, child sacrifice to the god Molech was particularly disgusting.
There is absolutely no question in my mind why God had some of these people destroyed, and I fear that his patience is running out with us because of our modern day equivalent - abortion.
