Hi,

As a nurse, I can tell you that I’ve seen women who have had 3 or more C-sections before. (My aunt recently had her 6th child - and ALL of her kids were born by C-section! No multiple births either!) As it’s been 4 years since your last baby, you should probably have a lower chance of complications. That said, I would indeed recommend that you talk to your doctor.

My mom was 34 when my youngest brother was born, so no, I don’t think you’re too old. As the others have said, there is a slightly higher risk for older mothers (mostly in terms of birth defects) but as a rule, the risk does not increase substantially until past age 40. Again, you should talk to your doctor about specifics.

In addition to helping plan a family, NFP can also help you find out the ideal time to achieve a pregnancy. If you have trouble conceiving, NFP can also help determine the cause. If you don’t currently practice it, it would definitely be something to consider.

Yes we do NFP. I guess what I want to figure out is if this is and itch or a calling from God.

I am a weird mom, I love it. Diapers, feedings, up all nite!! Its awesome. I play with my kids all day!! I actual hate when they are in school.

The thing is men are lucky, they have their “little seeds” for a long time. Women, we are on the count down. I guess aging never bothered me until you here all these medical doctors say, 35 is high risk. I know it is a count down until the big “pause”.

I also am content in my life. My 7 year old is learning the bible and my 4 year old thinks batman is real!! I love it .

Last nite my husband and me were talking about it and he had me laughing so hard. We have a William and Wyatt. I said if we have another boy we will have to think about a good “W” name. He said Walter!! LOL Could you imagine a new baby named walter!! LOL I could not stop laughing!!

Speaking simply from observation, it appears that major issues start kicking in around 40 or so: repeated miscarriages (especially), genetic defects, etc. But even then, plenty of 40+ wives have healthy children. My wife was born when her mother was 42, and my youngest uncle was born when my grandmother was 44. The oldest I’m aware of is one of my associates had an aunt that had a healthy baby at 52.

I never had a c-section, but I had my children in my 30’s. DD was born when I was almost 35. She was conceived pretty quickly my pregnancy was fine, she was a bit early, but never required a NICU stay.

Do your research about repeat C-sections. I had a friend who was told after her 3rd C-section that she had a window. she got a second and third opinion. She found a doctor that said that this “window” was not a concern. they would watch it carefully but it shouldnt prevent her from having another. they spaced their children between 3-4 years. she feels healed and ready to have another. she is 35 too.

Many medical professionals find it easy to say to someone, “dont have anymore” but they arnt taking into account what that means for the family or their faith.

I would go before the Lord and pray my heart out. i know sometimes we feel content in our life the way it is. but are we doing everything we are called to do? I have never heard anyone say, “man i wish i hadnt had that last one” but i ALWAYS hear from people when their kids are grown and out of the house, “I wish i had had more”.

we are pregnant with #7, i have had a c-section and many v-bacs. not sure if that is an option for you but i know people have v-bacs after 2 c-sections. There was a Kennedy that had 11 c-sections and was way back in the day when they were not done with small horizontal cuts. wow.

I’ll pray for you as you discern this very important calling. Even when practicing NFP we have to remember we should have a serious or grave reason to abstain. Humane Vite is a great resource!

My wife was 38 years old when our first child was born by Caesarean Section. She was 41 when our second child was born, also by Caesarean, and 43 when our third child was born by Caesarean.

Please seek sound medical advice from a professional who can properly evaluate your condition.
