Anyone watching this on Netflix? I really love it and am on Season 5.
The show makes me smile and laugh.

I enjoyed many of the shows on Netflix especially “Grand Hotel”, “El Internado”, “Longmire”, “Happy Valley”, “Velvet”, “Bloodline,” “Broadchurch,” “The Killing,”
“Prison Break.” “Crossing Lines”, “Red Road,” “Flashpoint,” 'Luther".

Would love some recommendations (hopefully new ones that I haven’t watched.)

I mostly enjoy shows that have more than one episode for one crime. I tried Murdoch Mysteries and Midsomer Murders and didn’t care for them as they solved a crime for each episode.

thanks everyone

I love it too.

I also am watching the first season of Downton Abbey. The parish priest recommended this show to me.

I will also look into the shows you listed above.

Yes, I have loved it for years. It is very whimsical. It makes me want to leave the city and move to Aberdeen Scotland and live in a hut (as I do not own a castle). 🙂 (am only partly joking) I do wonder if people waste their lives in the rat race though. Do we make our lives unnecessarily ugly and demeaning, reduce the quality of our lives out of fear, conventionalism. Or do we overly romanticize ‘getting back to simplicity and nature.’ Probably both.

I just saw Luther this weekend - loved it. Another good one is Quirk, a little dark and over intense, but interesting. 50s Dublin.

Watch out for Pie in the Sky - it stars Richard Griffiths (Uncle Vernon Dursley in the Harry Potter films, unfortunately now deceased). It might not be exactly what you’re looking for, but it is light-hearted and just plain nice.

(I like Midsomer murders–my husband and I always bet on the number of murders per show!!—not that we enjoy murders or anything 🙂 )

Yes, I like it too, but it is so weird, the way people get killed, and so many. Sort of comical. Half the time I can never even follow the plot, especially when they divide into two weeks (I watch it on PBS). I don’t care though; I like the ‘vibe.’ Not one of my absolute favorites though - but still I don’t miss it.

I should probably add as a footnote to above - Aberdeen is actually quite an international, urban culturally diverse center I think - I meant my hut would be outside of Aberdeen, near there. Don’t want to offend any Aberdeen residents out there. 🙂

how do you find specifically crime shows? do you need the titles?

I saw The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and it was a good movie.
I haven’t seen Grand Hotel yet, but I think it won many awards.
