Let’s not jump to assume that he is guilty. While he might be, nearly 40% (Chris, help me out here with the stats) of those accused were found to be innocent and falsely accused. Let’s pray for this situation and I’m sure that God will apply the prayers to where they are most needed – either to an innocent priest or to his innocent victims.

I met him years ago when I was a Core member in Life Teen. He seemed like a really decent guy. The fact that this is coming out after someone had “repressed memories” sounds a bit fishy to me.

More & more "“repressed memories” cases are turning into “planted memories”. As I said earlier, let pray for those involved and let God apply the prayers to where they are most needed.

Ditto on this one. They are guilty until proven innocent, but I think that a lot of these charges are false myself (what QUICKER way is there to get settlement money than to accuse a priest of abuse?). I mean, a lot of them are from “repressed” memories which have “come to light” through hypnosis etc. If he is guilty, well then, I’m glad they arrested him! I hope he repents if he hasn’t already if he is indeed guilty. Our bishops & priests are not above the law.

Let’s just say a prayer for this man that he gets a fair trial. We all know the American people already have in their minds stamped that priest = pedophile which is crud.

Only 4% of the priests over a span of 50 years have been accused of abuse, and something around 40% of them turn out to be false. If you ask me, those are pretty good numbers. When compared to Mormonism, school teachers, police departments, protestant clergy and other people in authority, that seems like a pretty average number to me. Not good, but people will be people (sinners).

One bad apple spoils the whole bunch. In the priest abuse cases, I agree. Why would a lot of young men even want to be priests, and be associated with such scumbags. They are making harder and harder to be Catholic and also to consider becoming a priest. On the other hand, I believe money is driving a lot of these accusations by people such as SNAP and others. They won’t rest until the whole church is bankrupt. They have a local chapter in Toledo that is very active. Right now, they are trying to get the State of Ohio to let them go back 35 years for lawsuits. In a good many cases, the priests are dead, or are no longer priests. Maybe the Monsignor in Phoenix is innocent, I pray that he is. Pray, pray for our Church.
