Hi all!

I would like to ask for help on patron saints. I want to make a small novena book for myself. I have copied some great novenas online. I was thinking of having saints to pray to per month.

Anyway, here is what I have so far:
January - Don Bosco
February -
March - St. Joseph (Jesus’ foster father)
April - St. Gianna
May - St. Rita of Cascia
June -
July -
August -
September - St. Joseph of Cupertino
October - St. Therese of Lisieux
November -
December - St. Charbel Muklouf

If anyone could suggest other saints. I also have prayers for canonization for Bl. Louis and Zelie Martin, but since they aren’t canonized yet, I didn’t put them in the list.

Thanks!

At least so far, you seem to have picked saints with a feast day in the month in question (or otherwise this is all a huge coincidence, but the first explanation is simpler ;)). Presumably you are looking for saints for which you can find a novena to use.

What other criteria do you have? I’m wondering about those criteria in case they help people think of saints for the other months.

  • Saints Cyril and Methodius, The Apostles of the Slavs, February 14
vatican.va/holy_father/john_paul_ii/encyclicals/documents/hf_jp-ii_enc_19850602_slavorum-apostoli_en.html

On 15 January 1888 Pope Leo XIII canonized all of the Seven Holy Founders of the Servites (founded 1233 AD) . The common feast is Feburary 17. They are:
  • Buonfiglio dei Monaldi (Bonfilius),
  • Giovanni di Buonagiunta (Bonajuncta),
  • Amadeus of the Amidei (Bartolomeus),
  • Ricovero dei Lippi-Ugguccioni (Hugh),
  • Benedetto dell’ Antella (Manettus),
  • Gherardino di Sostegno (Sostene), and
  • Alessio de’ Falconieri (Alexius).
Trinitarians
  • Blessed Elisabeth Canori Mora, III O. SS. T., mother of a family (February 4)
  • Saint John Baptist of the Conception (February 14)

Yes, the saints celebrate their feast on those months. My apologies, I failed to mention that earlier.

I do pray their novenas on those months. I don’t really have any specific criteria. I guess, I can relate to these saints. Like, St. Rita for marriage (my marriage was a bit troubled couple of years back) and St. Gianna for miscarriage, and so on…

Vico, thanks for your suggestions. I will look into these saints.

Thanks for answering! What qualities appeal to you in the other saints on your list? (Again, the answers are to help people think of saints for the other months.)

Consider Saint Agnes, Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, Saints Anne and Joachim, Saint Anthony of Padua, Saint Philip Neri, Saint Rose of Lima, and Saint Teresa of Ávila. All of them have a broadly established cultus, and thus to find novenas or particular prayers to them shouldn’t be difficult.

God bless.

The Church has dedicated the months of the year and days of the week to different devotions. You could fill in the blanks with these traditional devotions. fisheaters.com/week.html

Big thanks for all your suggestions. I am having fun reading about the lives of the saints. They are all wonderful and have lived a remarkable life.

Keep them coming!
