There are supposed to be seven suicides in the Bible, but I can only name a few. Any help here?
  1. Saul, fell on sword to avoid capture.
  2. Sampson, destroyed pagan temple which fell on him
  3. Judas, despair at betraying Christ.

  1. Saul’s armorbearer, after Saul’s suicide
  2. Ahithophel, after Absalom preferred someone else’s counsel over his.
  3. Zimri, after reigning 7 days in Tirzah and seeing the city taken from him
  1. Judas, despair at betraying Christ.
Two different resources in my possession say that’s it.

Speaking of Judas’ suicide, I’m probably most definately wrong, but I always thought he killed himself because of an “honor system”. Like you know, “I cannot live with the knowledge that I have taken a life, I must now take my own life.”
I just wondered if Judas’ decision was misinterperated.
On the subject of biblical suicides: Actually written in scripture I can think of none beyond what has been already noted.
Nero committed suicide. That could be the mysterious beast who dies and returns in Revelation. Pontius Pilate by tradition also commits suicide, or did Josephus write that? What are suicide committers thinkin’?

Ptolemy Macron in 2 Maccabees 10:9-13
Razis in 2 Maccabees 15:37-46, while trying to escape from Nicanor.

Of course, I wonder if the orignal questioner had only the Protocanonical Old Testament in mind.

Oh, and I forgot, Ptolemy Macron 2 Maccabees 10:9-13.

that makes 8.

Of course, I wonder if the original question had only the protocanonical Old Testament in mind.

I didn’t even think of checking the deuterocanonicals 😦 Old habits die hard. Also, my working aids that list things by topic are all from Protestant sources.
