I hate it when the bishops backpedal like that. It’s time to stop being soft. That’s why people are leaving the faith. There is no consensus among the hierarchy. In the words of Monica Lewinsky, they should “Deny, deny, deny!”
 
I actually find it encouraging that most of the bishops think that sanctions should be applied if people refuse to be corrected. That’s all old news though. The bishops have always had that capability.
I love what Cardinal Ratzinger had to say. Just reaffirms the bishops responsibility to stand up.
The article was good. It had some anti-catholic feeling to it, but provided some good information.

Let’s be a little careful here.

This was an argument posed during a closed-door meeting. Presumably, this would be the appropriate forum where all opinions should be aired in coming to a conclusion on the document.

Now, if he is outspoken in this regard now that the document has been made public, then there’s a problem.
