A month or so back there was a story on the news of the growing Utah Muslim community and their opening of a free health care clinic in Salt Lake City. The 4th free clinic Utah Muslims have opened in the past year or so.

The Democrats in thestate see the rapidly growing Muslim presence as something that will help their party in years to come - they even went all-out to register Utah Muslims this past election in the hope they’d vote Democratic which they tend to do.

The Islamic Society of SLC and the Islamic forum of Utah are fairly upfront with their missionary plans for Utah - as are the Muslim groups in other states and major US cities.

How are Mormon/Muslim relations in Utak and is the LDS church concerned about the relatively rapidly growing Muslim presence in Utah and money that may be poured in there, as well as other US locations, for missionary activities?

I thought the conversion would go the other way. All the LDS Missionaries have to do is tell the Muslims that instead of getting 72 vesseled virgins they could have two hundred wives and their own planet in the afterlife without blowing themselves up. It’s a joke everyone so lighten up.

I have heard nothing about this growing movement in Utah. I would think that it would be difficult to get any Mormon or Christian for that matter to deny that Christ is God. Anyone who converts to Islam probably did not have a strong testimony of Christ in the first place, and if they did, pray for their souls.

God Bless,

I think that many of these reports are exagerating, many people leave islam, but in secret, and few people entry in islam, publicly.

There is a large conversion of African-American to Islam in the US. And a growing conversion of European descent Christian Americans - Cat Stevens for one. The head of the Islamic Society of the Bay Area is a 3r generation Norwegian American, of Lutheran stock, including pastors, and he converted years ago. The San Jose Islamic center is bringing in lots of converts.

Europe too is seeing conversions to Islam - especially in Spain and England.

Several Central American villages have converted en-masse to Islam in the past 5 years. largely the work of the Spanish Muslim missionaries and the infighting invillages caused by the splintering of Christinaity there. These villagers converted to various forms of Chrianity a decade ago, leaving Catholicism, but the various sects were at each others’ throats and village elders saw Islam as a way to bring together the villages/extended families who had been such for generations.

Peace and blessings of God be upon you…

Islam is in the same tradition as Christianity and Judaism, however Muslims see Christians as Muslims who have been misguided by Greeks and Romans who changed Christianity…in which they followed the Prophet Jesus in the Worship of the one God and turned him into Zues/Apollo/Nike trinity. The Romans, hating the teachings of Christ and killing Christians in the arenas…were not going to accept Christianity, without altering it to fit with Roman Mythology. The Council of Nicea was an example of this change from Jesus the Prophet (peace be upon him) becoming Jesus the God! (blasphemy). There is only one God and from Adam to Moses, Jesus and Muhammad are his Prophets. We Muslims believe there to be 124,000 prophets of which 5 had books with them. Jesus is our Prophet, we love Jesus…however we don’t turn him into a God like Roman Christians and we don’t call him a false Prophet like the Jews. We Love Jesus! He is our Prophet…that is why you see his name on children in the Muslim world…JESUS = ISA

It is prophecied that during the end of days the Christians will be the closest to the Muslims and help the Muslims because the Mahdi and Jesus will come together and lead their people in unity. All Jews, Christian, and Muslims who are not of the righteous will be judged on that day…that day the labels will come of and God will tell you if you were his servant or the servant of Satan. God is most great and he loves his Prophets and the rest of his creation. He wants us to be friends, not enemies.

God instructed Muhammad (pbuh) to spread the word of Islam to all the people of the world who were not following God. Jews and Christians who follow the word of God do not really need to convert, unless they wish to do so. They have already been given the message. Only those Jews and Christians who do not follow their faith are to be given the message.

God is one God…“And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?”—Matthew 27:46

In regards to Muslims in Utah, I am one of the 25,000 Muslims in Utah, which is growing quickly among both Ex-Mormons and Non-Mormons very quickly. We like the Mormons do not drink Alcohol or Gamble. The main things we differ on is Jesus, doctrine, pork, and coffee. Utah along with the rest of the United States will understand the message of Islam in given time. The truth cannot be stopped even by force. That is why even the worst enemies of Islam from the time of Muhammad to the Present have become Muslims themselves. From Omar who first went to kill Muhammad…then heard the Quran and later became the 2nd Caliph of Sunni Islam…to the Mongols who sacked the Islamic World then became Muslims and rebuilt the same places the sacked. To the present day western world which is turning to Islam exponentially. Estimates say 20,000 to 200,000 people America turn to Islam every year. That is not counting Canada, Mexico, and Europe. And it is not counting the immigration of Muslims. Point is like it or not, Muslims are here to stay…what we must do is to set up the foundation of how Muslims, Christians, Jews and other will be able to work together in a progressive and positive light.

God is most great and he loves his creation…we are all brothers and sisters…we should love one another.

There are more than these 2 organizations now in Utah…currently there are:

The Islamic Society of Greater Salt Lake www.utahmuslims.com
The Muslim Forum of Utah www.muslim-forum.org
The Islamic Soceity of Bosniaks
The Utah Islamic Center
The Alrasool Islamic Center

The Muslim community in Utah went from 1 Mosque 15-20 years ago to 9 Mosques currently in the state with 3 of them being in Salt Lake City itself. The majority of converts are actually Caucasians from both Mormon / Non-Mormon backrounds. Also, there are Hispanic converts as well. Utah is a majority white racial state with hispanics being second in number. Both groups have responded to Islam in growing numbers, especially with the advent of the Internet. Converts from far off rural towns come to the main Mosques in Salt Lake City for big events. This is just in Utah…this situation is bigger nationally. American Muslims are growing quickly and they are no longer a foreign element in religion or politics. Within the next 5-10 years Muslims may out number Jews and Mormons in America. Currently they are on an equal footing. This is a natural phenomenon that comes with education and knowledge. The medieval spread of anti-Muslim propoganda from the Crusades is dwindling because people now have the Internet to learn the truth, no matter where they live!

They know now that Muslims good people and Islam is for everybody…Muslims are not mostly Non-Arabs etc. I myself am a Caucasian convert to Islam. I follow Shaykh Hamza Yusuf Hansen www.zaytuna.org
