Why would the Church accept a work of fiction, which shows no evidence of having been divinely inspired, written by a man of questionable character? He was just as bad a person after his so-called visit with God as he was before.
I don’t know about you, but if I saw God face-to-face, as it were, I’d change my ways awfully quick

Mormonism cannot withstand the light of day. Joe Smith, a known con-man and world-class plagarist, concocted mormonism out of whole cloth and succeded in duping thousands of ill-informed people. He fabricated his own doctrines, especially that of “plural marriage” to satisfy his own lusts and commited treasonous acts, which brought him to the attention of the Federal government. His own lawless nature brought him to an outlaw’s death. He was not a “martyr”, but instead went down shooting. His arch-henchman, Brigham Young, continued the fraud and led thousands of gullible “Saints” to Utah to escape the hand of justice. Joe Smith founded a false religion that continues to dupe the innocent to this day.
