The alternative can be seen on third world streets awash with abandoned children who only survive through child prostituion…
The alternative is for ALL human beings, the born and the unborn, male and female to be accorded respect, dignity and the right to life.
The abuses/atrocities contained in those links, even if perfectly true and accurately accounted, still do not excuse killing of the unborn. All victims have my total empathy and prayers, but adding abortion as a solution or mode of righting injustice, compounds rather than mitigates the harm done.
Off all the degrading things that can be done to a woman, nothing is worse than ripping out of her body that which grows inside her and tossing it on a trash heap. Making the baby the enemy is no less unjust than making the unwed mother a pariah.
Poverty, youth or social problems are no justification for taking a life, neither are they solved by it. Offering abortion to disadvantaged people instead of helping them, is really saying: “you are worth less, we don’t need more of your kind.” How is that less of an assault on dignity than ostracizing unwed women?
Even accepting the argument that dominant male society sold out and trashed the very women they took advantage of, is woman’s quest for fair treatment so desperate as to blind us to the brutality meted out to the helpless unborn? How does that then make us better human beings than the those whom these links seek to call to account for their offenses?
As a woman, I aspire for equality not in barbarism, but in the higher human qualities - so should all women.
P.S. I see the post is no longer viewable, but to my mind there was no viewpoint raised in it that could not be addressed and/or refuted.
