Analysis by Dr. John B. Shea, MD. FRCP(C)TORONTO, May 28, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In a recent article in Fertility and Sterility R.T. Mikolajczyk and J.B. Stanford proposed a model experiment that estimated the effectiveness of the disruption of ovulation by Levonorgestrel used as an…

Again, we may not have a smoking gun perse, but i think the above link and subsequent research shows that this must be a way this pill works when it fails to prevent ovulation. Also, EC does not seem to cut down on the number of abortions and this has been shown in studies in several european countries including Sweden I think recently. Ultimately, if we do not know whether the thing in the bush is a buck (does not cause chemical abortion) or another hunter (does cause chemical abortion), we have to err on the side of life and not shoot. I feel one would have to prove EC does not act in this way at all in order to use it in the case of Rape.

“it’d be nice if we had a [term] we could use to talk about this particular set of circumstances…zygoticide?”

Well said. I came up with the same term and shortly thereafter found that I wasn’t the first to do so, which means that the term will probably have wide acceptance if we will only use the word zygoticide in a way that defines it.

Some say that language is culture and that culture is language, but if the truth be known, language changes culture and culture changes language, and they do so with such a close relationship that the two are nearly indistinguishable.

Keep saying it! Zygoticide is homicide!

The alternative can be seen on third world streets awash with abandoned children who only survive through child prostituion.

Those are the lucky ones.

The rest get sold into slavoury, either sexual or child soldiers, domestic salves, in mines etc.

Or many end up in childrens homes like

Whilst this is how young pregnant females are treated

The Magdalene laundry system of perverted Ireland where with the full knowledge of most of the population with all the police, politicians, orphanages and mental health asylums all involved in up to their necks, architects and the bishops and church all the way up to the pope destroying the lives of 30,000 girls at least imprisoning them for life under horrific conditions up till 1996 whilst terrorists had tennis courts and plenty of rights. The only crimes these girls did was flirt, be abuse victims, get pregnant in a country with no or virtually no sex education or contraception. And when given birth and bonded babies torn from their begging arms and sold.

The alternative is for ALL human beings, the born and the unborn, male and female to be accorded respect, dignity and the right to life.

The abuses/atrocities contained in those links, even if perfectly true and accurately accounted, still do not excuse killing of the unborn. All victims have my total empathy and prayers, but adding abortion as a solution or mode of righting injustice, compounds rather than mitigates the harm done.

Off all the degrading things that can be done to a woman, nothing is worse than ripping out of her body that which grows inside her and tossing it on a trash heap. Making the baby the enemy is no less unjust than making the unwed mother a pariah.

Poverty, youth or social problems are no justification for taking a life, neither are they solved by it. Offering abortion to disadvantaged people instead of helping them, is really saying: “you are worth less, we don’t need more of your kind.” How is that less of an assault on dignity than ostracizing unwed women?

Even accepting the argument that dominant male society sold out and trashed the very women they took advantage of, is woman’s quest for fair treatment so desperate as to blind us to the brutality meted out to the helpless unborn? How does that then make us better human beings than the those whom these links seek to call to account for their offenses?

As a woman, I aspire for equality not in barbarism, but in the higher human qualities - so should all women.

P.S. I see the post is no longer viewable, but to my mind there was no viewpoint raised in it that could not be addressed and/or refuted.

I would also like to add that discussions such as this may do more harm than good to the casual reader because some posters continue to ignore that there exist situations in which MAP can be morally used, such as rape (once ovulation is excluded).
