Im wondering if I need to go to Confession.

Ive realised Ive been judgmental of family and other people and have been pushing my family to get back into the faith or to come to the faith.

also feeling depressed about the loss of a friend almost 2 years ago, and im still dweling on her. I cry from time to time, i havent even sceen her sicne last june, but im still upset about it, and its sufocateing my life because i miss her alot… and its depressed me so much that i have thoughts of hurting my self from time to time, but then i realise that that wont get me anywhere, and i remind my self God loves me, and…yea, im wondering.

I new here too and I’m no expert, I can’t tell you whether or not you’ve sinned, but I can answer your question.

Yes! Go to confession!

Considering the season and your feelings, go to confession as soon as possible. You will benefit greatly from this sacrament. I guarantee it.

What can we do by lamenting? Why not we pray instead of crying for them? Don’t hurt yourself. Come and read my conversion story. Devil is tempting us always. I’ve seen him. If w a soul end ones life by himself cannot merit heaven any longer.

The world is filled with much sadness and tears, and losing someone close to you is never easy. When we pray the “Hail Holy Queen”, one line that always strikes me is “To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.” You seem to be a very sensitive person who truly cares about others. Our Lord was described was also described as a man of sorrows acquainted with grief.

Your feelings of wanting to hurt yourself, though, are not coming from God. When you have those feelings, pray right away. And don’t forget to pray to St. Michael, who defends us against Satan and the evil thoughts he inspires in us.

This may sound simplistic, but a good way to combat negative feelings is just to spend time with the Blessed Sacrament. If you can, the best way is with the exposed Blessed Sacrament, but just going to a church and sitting in front of the tabernacle has amazing power. Christ is real, and if you take the time to give to him, he will give back to you in ways that you can’t even imagine. Just looking at and meditating on the crucifix and how Christ suffered for us so that we can be healed and brought into his Kingdom is also very beneficial. You can learn more about the meaning of love from meditation on the crucifix than anywhere else.

God bless you, and don’t give up on Him.

P.S. Confession is an excellent idea. Talk to the priest about exactly what you are feeling and the thoughts of hurting yourself. I have no doubt he will give you excellent advice and support.

Malleus: Everyone Sins. It doesnt mean you are a bad person. Whether the Sin is mortal or not is explained in the Catechism. My suggestion to you - is that rather than come here to this forum to ask a question like this - that you should consider talking to a Priest about it instead - that he should be able to guide you to the Teachings of the Church as to what constitutes a Venial Sin as opposed to a Mortal Sin. And then after you grasp what makes a Sin Mortal - then through prayer and the help of an Examination of Conscience you can properly prepare for a good confession. Go to confession and get any mortal sins you may have commited abssolved. Do the penance given. In reading your post - it seems as though you need some instruction in this area. Do not be afraid to seek the counsel of a good Priest.

I think you are depressed and need to see a therapist because you want to self destruct.
You need someone to talk to about your feelings of sadness.

Your friend’s death could be bringing up some old memories that you don;t want to face
or let it surface so that you can understand what is really going on with you.

There is a deep inner sad feeling inside of you that you need to confront. Otherwise, you will keep feeling sad.

My advise for you is to pray for your friend every time you think about her. It will give you peace. I also advise that you eat comfort foods that give you pleasure in moderation.

For some reason I get the feeling you are not eating healthy foods. PEACE, LaLucia

I think it is a mistake to “psychoanalyze” someone as you have just done. The OP is feeling great sadness at losing a loved one, a totally natural reaction. It has gone on for a while, but I still feel sadness at pets I lost years ago. Certainly the same can be said of people in our lives who have died. Unless it is totally crippling this person, it is not something that needs to be overanalyzed.

Eat comfort foods? Are you kidding??? The OP, like the rest of us, is struggling to live in a fallen world filled with sadness and misery. Eating comfort foods is not the answer. The love and mercy of God is the answer.

Not eating healthy foods? This person is in pain because we live in a fallen sinful world.

WhiteDove, your feelings of sadness and pain are not unnatural. It just means that you need to draw nearer to our Lord and experience the love and mercy he offers to all of us. Please do talk to a priest, find a good spiritual director if you can. Don’t beat yourself up because of this. Remember what Christ said: “Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” God bless you.

Hi Brooklyn, you and other posters gave Whie Dove great God spritiual advise. I decided to get that person to go for counseling which can also help.

We all misunderstood when WhiteDove used the word LOSS. I am used to saying the loss of a loved one instead of using the word death of a loved one.

Hey Dude/White Dove, your loss of your friendship is like a death because your friend is nolonger your friend. The good part is that person is still alive but the bad part is you nolonger are in touch with that friend. So, it is good to learn that friend is still alive.

But wanting to hurt yourself is a different problem related to your distorted thinking about your self. I used to be a counselor for many years and I also go for therapy when I have a problem.

Please don’t hurt yourself and move on with your life. That friendship was not meant to last forever. PEACE, LaLucia
