I went to my first Spanish Mass today at my new Church home (recently returned to the Catholic church). I really loved it, but boy howdy did I stick out like whoa!

A thing happened, too. So, as if I wasn’t feeling out of place enough…

YOU GUYS! I DROPPED JESUS ON THE FLOOR! IN FRONT OF THE ENTIRE CONGREGATION WHO WERE ALREADY LOOKING AT ME LIKE WTH IS SHE DOING HERE!

dies of humiliation

I was so embarrassed, and felt just awful, but was very grateful for the EM who prompted me to pick it up and partake. Dropping the host has always been my nightmare, and to do it in an unfamiliar environment…oh man.

Time to receive on the tongue and from the priest from now on. I have to remember to scope out what sides of the chapel and church he distributes the Eucharist to.

😦

oh no , it happens. Just keep coming back and be careful .👍 For a while you may be known as the lady who dropped Jesus. 👋

Honest mistake. Take a deep breath and know that it’s fine. Look on the bright side, people will know you now. Lol

I had a priest stack two or three pieces of the remaining Eucharist on my tongue during a small weekday Mass. The top two pieces fell on the floor. I quickly picked it up and ate it. No harm done, I did the right thing and no one thought anything of it. Since then I take it more often from the hand.

I have seen exactly one host dropped. I have seen several fall as the distributor was attempting to place it on the communicant’s tongue.

Being a priest makes no difference in this context.
