I always here of the argument in catholic apologetics referring to Moses’ Seat in Matthew 23:2. It is purported to be oral tradition and unfindable in the old testament canon. I have had no reason to believe otherwise, though i was recently pointed to Exodus 18:13-27. This passage appears to be referencing this seat of Moses that is spoken of by Jesus. Is there an explanation for this?

Peace

The chair of Moses found Matthew 23:2 is different from the one in Exodus. Jesus refers to the Pharisees taking over the chair of Moses, which might infer to the authority the Pharisees adhere to. There is no indication that this is the same one, or else there would have been references of it elsewhere in the Old Testament.

I had a simialr experience. But the point is still valid. Moses did indeed have a seat of authority. But nowhere do you see anyone say that it is a position of authority that will be filled and passed on throughout all generations until Christ. Neither do you see anyone filling that role throughout the OT from Moses to the Pharisees. Where then did the Pharisees get the notion of their being such a place of authority to hold? Tradition.
