This a remake of an old poll of mine that left out a whole bunch of options and ideas. What is the most annoying thing you most hear from Anti-Catholics?

I would have to say that to me, two of them are equally the most annoying. That would be that all priests are pedophiles and that Catholics worship Mary and the saints.

I used to get annoyed, but now I am embarrassed for those who would say the church is the Whore of Babylon, worship Mary, or that we are not Christians. It is an indication of a some what tortured mind and in some cases appealing to those who are bullies and cheap shots by nature who hide behind the bible who they claim supports them. To be right to the point, guys like Jeffress who made recently made news fall into this category.

**Catholicism and Christianity are two totally different religions <---- This one

**And if I could have voted for two things, that we worship Mary, the Saints and the Pope.

I’m annoyed that people think that the Catholic Church is only the Roman Catholic Church.

I put that Catholicism and Christianity are different. The others are simple misconceptions that can be understood and easily corrected, but this one seems to come as more of a simple attack that isn’t based on anything. You can refute the others easily, but it’s hard to correct them with this misconception.

Most annoying anti-Catholic misconception? That Constantine founded the Catholic church. If a lot of people haven’t heard it, that’s probably because the “evangelical Christians” who believe it don’t want to hurt your feelings or ask anything construed as offensive - but, if you asked them if they (the Protestants) believe it, many of them do.

I think the most annoying misconception is that we think our bodies are evil.

I absolutely cannot stand the “all priests are pedophiles” line. Statistically speaking, people should look at a child’s PARENTS and think they’re pedophiles, not priests (not as if that’s any better, of course). Oh well -sigh-

Hard to pick just one, as all the poll options are about equally annoying.

I am not Catholic, but I am not anti-Catholic.

Pretty much all of them are the systematic destruction of Christs Church. Strident Clamor of evil, which is enjoying its moment of negative attention. However, if by some slim chance we can get “most” Catholics on the same page, we can effectively wage a war of success by fighting back. The numbers are there, the correct thinking and abilty to foresee what lies is fleeting it seems.

Peace

I used to work in an area that was heavily evangelical. What I heard most often was that Catholic Church was not Biblicly based or was not Biblical. They were pretty shocked when I informed them of the 3 year cycle of readings at the Mass which was repeated through most of my “many” years. True, we also have our own tradition and the teaching function of the church, but a lot of that “teaching function” or Magisterium has been developed after Biblical scrutiny over a long time.

As a convert, you can bet I’ve heard them all. They drive me crazy, but they give me a chance to discuss the issues too. It’s not all bad that way. Maybe these whoppers will give me a chance to get someone else across the Tiber.
