Most simple way of expressing the Filioque?

What’s the best way? Sometimes I hear things from fellow Catholics which doesn’t sound right to me. A fellow Latin Rite just told a bunch of EO’s that the Father and the Son are “greater” than the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit is sent as a double procession from both. This sounds like heresy to me, but want to confirm.

Both RCC and Catholic would call that “greater” heretical, yes.

The Orthodox generally agree that the Spirt proceeds temporally, but not in origin, from the Son.

The Greek word used in the creed explicitly means origin, and is one of something like a half dozen that translate to the same Latin and English word. (and, yes, the spat really is that stupid, talking past one another for a thousand years. . .)

That would be a seriously heretical understanding in both Eastern and Western/Latin theology. This person needs to be corrected on this.
