I beg your holy prayers for my son TJ, 25 y/o. On 7/17/10 I rec’d a phone call from a police officer stating that my son had suffered a cardiac arrest. Devastated, I drove into NYC (from NJ) to find TJ on full life support and iced so that this procedure would reduce as much swelling in the brain as possible.
TJ suffered from an overdose of Oxycontin and alcohol and was dead for at least 10 minutes. Narcan could not start his heart even after CPR was administered. Following the 911 call, the doctors told us that the Fire Dept had arrived prior to the Paramedics and told the gentleman that was trying to resuscitate him to leave him alone, he was dead. This gentleman was relentless and would not give up. Two minutes later, the Paramedics arrived and worked on him for two more minutes until a pulse was found. He was then transported to the hospital.
On or around the 4th day in MICU, a friend of mine came across a card from a very devout charismatic priest. She suggested I call him. During my phone conversation he said that he was not a well man and really doesn’t travel in to NYC anymore. He paused, for a good minute. I then suggested that I would pick him up and drive him toward the end of the week. He told me that would not work. Never thinking he would go the same day, he said he heard, “Go now”. With that we journeyed into NY. Father came with our Eucharistic Lord and prayed over him with Jesus in hand. Miraculously, TJ woke up briefly, in peace. The day prior, TJ was like a chained bear trying to break loose- a horrible experience, however, this day, TJ began to interact, though minimally. As days progressed and God’s healing took charge, he was left with minimal cognitive/anoxic brain damage, loss of hearing 60/40%, numbness in his left forearm, and his balance was off. Two and one half weeks later, TJ was transported to Kessler Institute where he rec’d a comprehensive program addressing the above mentioned issues. After one week, he was released to out patient care. Once he was down to one hour three days a week, I noticed a depression had set in. In discussing his depression, which, by the way he called 'boredom", he decided to overdose again on Xanax and once again, rushed to the ER.
After two weeks in the Psychiatric unit, he was released from a local hospital and transported to a dual diagnostic program in PA. When I asked why he would do such a thing he said that he does not feel loved. I asked him to open his heart to God so that His love can be poured in abundantly, allowing his soul to absorb His grace, then, you will feel love.
As a catholic grammar school graduate, TJ has lost his faith, even through these miraculous recoveries of both overdoses. He is a college graduate and working in one of the top ad agencies in NYC doing some high end ads that have been published in prominent publications. My creative, smart son, has so many gifts to offer, though his addiction has possessed him where he is not capable of allowing his spirit to fight this powerful demon.
I thank you for any prayers that you may offer for his conversion. I know our Blessed Mother has wrapped her arms around him…I pray that he opens his heart to a new life filled with abundant love. Also, God did not take him for a reason. TJ has a mission to be His servant. I pray with my whole heart that this tragedy gives him the opportunity to grab the cloak of Jesus so that his emotional hemorrhaging, addiction, and void of God may be healed.
May God reward you for all your prayers, sacrifices and sufferings.
God bless you,
Maryann C.
PS TJ went to Medjugorje this past January with me expecting a miracle…in his mind nothing happened.
